Ennis MT Land for sale-The Madison River is the heart of Ennis and the Madison Valley.  It’s headwaters begin in Yellowstone National park at the confluence of the Firehole and Gibbon rivers at Madison Junction.   From there it flows northwest through Hebgen  and Quake Lakes before dropping into the wide and scenic Madison Valley.

Once below the Quake Lake rapids the Madison River becomes a swift flowing but gentle river for 53 miles to Ennis Lake.  This section of river often called the 50 Mile Riffle is prized for it’s trophy trout fishing and is the best fly fishing on the river.

Below Ennis lake the Madison River enters Beartrap Canyon.  The Beartrap is a scenic wilderness section of the river with a fast flow and a number of class 3 and 4 rapids. As the canyon opens up the river slows as it meanders towards Three Forks and it’s confluence with the Gallatin and Jefferson Rivers to form the Mighty Missouri.
